How to showcase the applications and benefits of a technical product before installation | 3D video

A technical product may be simple to look at, but much harder to describe.
When the application, installation, configuration and conditions of use change, photographs and technical data sheets do not always manage to convey all the product’s possibilities quickly.
With 3D, we can create a scenario around the product and show, in a matter of seconds, where it can be used, how it is installed and which solution is best suited to different requirements.
The challenge
When it comes to a drainage system, the customer must not only understand how the product is constructed.
They must understand where to use it and how to integrate it into the project.
Airport areas, industrial zones, car parks, roads and areas subject to heavy vehicle traffic present different conditions, each requiring appropriate solutions and configurations.
For marketing and sales, the challenge was therefore to transform this technical information into clear, accessible communication, capable of guiding the customer from product selection right through to its installation.

The solution
We have created a 3D video by building a virtual environment in which to depict different usage scenarios.
The camera moves through the scene, allowing viewers to visually associate the various solutions with their respective applications: car parks, roadways, industrial areas, ports and airports.
The video then goes into detail about the product, showing its configuration and installation.
In this way, the video progresses step by step from:
Where to use it → Which solution to choose → How to configure it → How to install it.
The product is no longer presented in isolation.
It is shown in its real-world context of use.
From product to application
One of the most significant advantages of 3D visualisation is the ability to create environments that would normally be complex or costly to film.
There is no need to have an airport, an industrial estate, a road and a car park all at the same time to illustrate the various applications.
3D allows you to bring these scenarios together in a single presentation and visually guide the viewer towards the correct solution.
For a marketing manager, this means being able to showcase a product range through its applications.
For the sales team, it means having a tool that helps customers immediately recognise their own needs.
Making the installation visible too
Once the application has been identified, the video can go beyond what is normally visible.
Sections of the ground, pipework, side outlets, end caps and connections can be shown through dedicated views.
3D technology therefore allows you to explain not only what to buy, but also how the solution is integrated into the project.
This is particularly useful when the product is intended for designers, distributors, fitters or technical contacts.
Where it can be used
The content can serve as a versatile tool for:
Sales presentations and the sales force - to quickly explain applications and the differences between solutions.
Trade fairs and events - to communicate through images and motion, even when addressing an international audience.
Website and product pages - to complement technical specifications with a visual explanation.
Video calls and presentations - to support sales staff during their explanations.
Training - to illustrate configurations, connections and installation procedures.
Social media and digital campaigns - using individual clips to showcase specific applications.

The benefits
Immediately recognisable applications: The customer sees the product directly in the context in which they might use it.
Technical specifications transformed into visual information: Configurations and installation methods become easier to understand.
A single communication approach for multiple markets: Images, icons and animations reduce the reliance on lengthy textual explanations.
Enhanced sales support: Sales staff can start with the customer’s needs and immediately demonstrate the corresponding solution.
Scenarios that are difficult to capture become accessible: Airports, industrial areas and infrastructure can be fully reconstructed and explored in 3D.
Behind the solution
The process begins with the product’s technical specifications and its potential applications.
The work is not simply a matter of modelling a 3D object.
It is necessary to decide what to show, in what order and with what level of detail, constructing a sequence that guides the viewer without overcomplicating the message.
Environments, the product, the installation, the camera, animations and infographics all work together to transform technical information into a visual narrative.

AI + control
Today, AI can speed up various stages of production and visual communication.
However, when the focus is on a technical product, geometries, configurations, installation and specifications must remain controllable.
That is why we integrate new tools into a process in which the 3D model remains a consistent and replicable foundation.
AI + technical supervision:
Consistent product
Controlled geometries
Stable materials
Bespoke animations
Replicable content
Services involved
3D modelling → 3D environments → Technical animation → Installation visualisation → Infographics and motion graphics → Rendering → Post-production → AI + technical supervision

Do you have a product with a wide range of applications?
When a product’s configuration varies depending on where it is used, a technical data sheet can describe all the possibilities.
3D can bring them to life.
We can use CAD models, drawings and technical documentation as a starting point to create content that supports marketing and sales teams in presenting the product’s applications, configurations, installation and benefits.
We don’t just produce 3D images: we transform technical specifications into selling points.
FST 3D – We make the complex, the hidden and the difficult to explain visible.
